Yep, those flies, mosquitoes and other insects that want to investigate our lovely homes. It’s all part of living here in Australia, however at Tuiss we want you to be able to enjoy fresh air throughout your home without the hassle of unwanted insects. How to install your fly screen roller blind
Installation is really simple and straight forward. You can see the full fitting guide here complete with detailed illustrations.
- Start by drilling some holes for screwing into the side frames. You’ll need a hole 100mm from each end, and then one approximately every 500mm.
HANDY TIP! Rest the side frame on a piece of wood or several layers of cardboard when drilling through them. This will ensure you avoid your drill damaging the surface beneath.
- Next, you’ll want to assemble your fly screen blind, so slot the side frames onto the ends of the cassette. You’ll notice there is a slot at the top of the frame that you can use to line it up with the ends of the cassette.
- Now it’s time to place the screen into position in your recess. You’ll want to position it towards the front of the recess. It should sit nicely, without obstructing any window winders. Secure the blind with screws, starting with securing the headrail using the screw holes in the end caps at either end. Then secure the side frames with a screw at the bottom of each frame. Finally, add screws through any remaining screw holes you drilled in the side frames to finish.
How to use your fly screen roller blind
The retractable fly screen uses a spring-loaded mechanism to self-raise. Simply use the pull cord to lower the blind, then push down on the handles to lock it at the bottom. There are toggles on each side that you can twist inwards to properly secure the fly screen at the bottom.
To raise the screen, release those toggles by twisting out towards you again. Then push back against the handles to unlock the blind and allow it to raise. Now, a word of caution – remember we mentioned that the screen is spring loaded? When you unlock the blind, keep your hands on those handles to raise it slowly. This is because it may spring up quite quickly. We want to make sure you don’t accidentally damage any part of your gorgeous new blind.
There are a couple of little things that you can do to tailor your screen to your tastes. The handles that you use to lock and release the screen can be slid to the sides, allowing you to have them as close together or as far apart as is comfortable for you. And if you’d prefer not to have the pull cord on the front of the screen, this can easily be removed altogether. Simply twist the cord mount on the front of the bottom bar in either direction and pull it out of the bar. This allows you to raise or lower your screen by just using the handles.
That’s it! So, when you’re not in need of protection from insects, your fly screen roller blinds can be completely retracted and kept out of the way, allowing you access to your window. Once you’ve opened your window, then you can pull the fly screen down and go on with enjoying your day.
