Dusting Vertical Blinds
One of the simplest ways to keep your vertical blinds clean for longer is dusting them on a regular basis. To do this, take a feather duster and starting from the top, brush downwards gently. Repeat this same process on either side of the louvre. If you remember to do this every time you give your room a quick tidy up, you’re more likely to keep them looking fresh and clean.
Washing Vertical Blinds
If your blind is small enough, you can remove the louvres to clean them. You just need a large, flat surface, a mild detergent and a damp cloth. Quite simply, just wipe the cloth along the length of the fabric gently – taking care not to scrub or press down too hard – and turn over, repeating on the other side.
For a more thorough clean, once you have removed the louvres, simply soak them in a bathtub with warm water and a very mild detergent to wash them. It’s particularly important to use a clean towel to pat them down before re-hanging them. Hanging them ensures that they don’t bend or twist when they’re drying. You can always place a couple of towels underneath them to catch any errant drops of water. The real trick is to pop the weights back in and hang them on a washing line to drip dry – this will ensure they don’t crease and can be placed back on the rail, with no ironing needed! They’ll look as good as new.
