ToggleSpotlight on William Morris
One of the 19th century’s most famous names, William Morris is still renowned today as the designer of iconic patterns such as ‘Willow Bough’ and ‘Strawberry Thief’.
The V&A’s hugely varied Morris collection reflects the impressive range of one of Britain’s most prolific designers. Besides Morris’ celebrated designs for wallpapers and textiles, he also designed tiles, stained glass, floor coverings, embroidery and furniture.
Arts and Craft Champion
Throughout his career, Morris regularly visited and studied the V&A’s collections perhaps ‘more than any man living’, taking inspiration and attempting to recreate the methods of construction he observed, particularly in historical textiles. Morris’s belief in the equality of access to the arts made him a great friend to the South Kensington Museum.
The design team at Tuiss has taken 8 of Morris’ most recognisable patterns and created a unique offering of roman blinds, roller blinds and curtains in over 40 exclusive colourways. This collection aims to maintain the essence and beauty of those original patterns, combining them with modern palettes that make them easier to use in a contemporary setting.
William Morris Blinds and Curtains
Strawberry Thief
Undeniably one of Morris’ best-known designs, Strawberry Thief has been continuously in print since 1883. This design was inspired by the thrushes that frequently stole strawberries from the garden of his country home in Oxfordshire. From blush pink to striking blue tones, Strawberry Thief is available in colours that celebrate the classic design, with a contemporary palette.
Willow Bough
Inspired by the wildflowers and trees William Morris saw on his country walks, this design features layers of beautifully detailed willow branches. The willow is one of Morris’s favourite motifs and has been used in several of his designs. We offer this design in a charming spectrum of colours that feel fresh and contemporary for today’s interiors.
Our collection of William Morris window furnishings consisting of roman blinds, roller blinds and curtains, are all made to measure. Beautifully timeless and practical, these designs also come with a choice of lining options to meet your needs.
