What Do You Love Most About Your Home?

Hayley, @mumlittleloves:

“It’s more about the feeling than any material thing. However it’s all the ‘things’ that create the feelings of warmth, calmness, and belonging. I love creating a welcoming space for my family to come home to at night by pulling the curtains and turning on all the lamps. It feels like we are shutting out the outside world and cocooning in our own cosy space.”

Paula, @mismatchedhome:

“I love that our home is full of our personalities. If someone walked into our house not knowing anything about us, I think they could get a good jist of who we are after looking around for a few minutes.

We’re pretty detail oriented in our home; almost every room has a rug, plants, artwork and of course window furnishings. That’s what makes a room feel cosy – and I love how cosy our home is.”

Deb, @_debmartin:

“I love so many elements of our home. I love that it was built in an era (70’s) where the details were added and still today remain relevant. We are fortunate to have rosés on every ceiling, plastered ornate mouldings etc throughout. It’s just really pretty. Our staircase is magnificent and really was the selling point of our purchase, along with the fact it has 6 bedrooms to accommodate our tribe.”

Where Do You Find Inspiration for Your Home?

Hayley, @mumlittleloves:

“Everywhere! I am constantly inspired by books, shop merchandising, nature, and all the creative people on Instagram.”

Paula, @mismatchedhome:

“Before we moved into our home, I had lots of Pinterest boards! But now that I have a home Instagram, I’m inspired by all the other amazing content creators and interior designers on the platform. In the last few years in particular, I think we’re seeing a shift toward bolder and more colourful interiors, which is super exciting.”

Deb, @_debmartin:

“Everywhere! Travelling – whenever we are on holidays I can’t wait to look at the architecture of where we are. The history behind the homes and hotels is also fascinating. Movies – I find so much inspiration from older movies like Disney for example, ‘Peter Pan’ & ‘The Sound of Music’ and just generally movies which have beautiful aesthetics. ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ also has a lot of gorgeous home creativity to absorb. Social media – I love scrolling and looking though old English homes in the countryside. There’s so much inspiration on various social media sites.”

What Was the Most Challenging Aspect of Your Renovation, and How Did You Overcome It?

Hayley, @mumlittleloves:

“I find working within a footprint hard sometimes, especially with our kitchen. We definitely had to prioritise what we really wanted and compromise on some other things.”

Paula, @mismatchedhome:

“The most challenging part of renovating for us has really been time! Luckily, my partner is a tradie and he can do almost everything himself… But it’s just finding the time among full-time work and raising our daughter. We do really love renovating and decorating though, so you’ll find us busy after work and every weekend, always finding something to improve.

We haven’t gotten around to the bigger renovation jobs yet, like kitchen and bathrooms. So, I’m sure there will be plenty more challenges to come!”

Deb, @_debmartin:

“Definitely budgeting! No one likes to be confined to a set budget however I find writing lists and itemising each specific product is key when budgeting for any renovation. It great to want every single item you desire, however work out which areas you can afford to spend more on and which components need to be retracted. You don’t want to end up with an unfinished renovation due to not budgeting or having to use funds from other projects.”

Tips for combining different fabric colours and patterns

Hayley, @mumlittleloves:

“Be brave! Most people choose plain neutral colours because they are ‘safe,’ but choosing something more fun can have such a big impact and create a more designer (ie; expensive) look. I love pairing a geometric pattern, like a stripe, with a floral. If you’re not brave enough to mix patterns, choose one pattern you love and pull a colour out of it to use as your solid. For instance, pick a floral blind in shades of blue and green, then match one of the blues or greens for a curtain to go over the top.”

Paula, @mismatchedhome:

“Don’t be scared to be bold – you don’t have to go with white! I definitely recommend ordering samples and trying them out in your room, seeing how they look with what you already have. If you’re good with design software like Canva, you can even try mock up a room or moodboard yourself to really help visualise the space. Try lots of options until something clicks!”

Deb, @_debmartin:

“Do what makes your heart sing! Not everyone is going to appreciate your own personal tastes. However if you want more of a structured guidance, create a mood board or collection of images/album you love then stick to the commonalities throughout. It’s a lot easier to visualise patterns and colours within your space when you have your own guide to refer back to. On a personal note for our home, I try to pair neutrals with colour. For example, in our cigar room we used the William Morris Honeysuckle & Tulip velvet blue roman blind which is darker and quite a busy print. I then paired it with a very neutral linen curtain either side so they’re not competing with each other. They complement beautifully. “

What’s Your Favourite Thing About Your Tuiss Blinds and Curtains?

Hayley, @mumlittleloves:

“Where do I start? The choices—there are so many options! I love being able to choose free samples that are delivered to my home so I can see the colours in my space. The range of blinds, shutters, and curtains means anyone can have custom window coverings on any budget, and there’s a window covering to suit any window. The quality is on par, if not better than curtains I’ve had made in the past from much more expensive brands. Lastly, when they say DIY, it really is easier than you think. I have personally installed all our blinds, shutters, and curtains.”

Paula, @mismatchedhome:

“I absolutely love how our s-fold curtains always look perfect! Ours came with a free track, and because of that, the curtains always sit in a perfect wave. I also love all the beautiful patterns available. The William Morris range is so beautiful and I’m so happy to have the Marigold pattern in our daughters room. We have simple express white venetian blinds in most of our rooms. They’re so quick to install and just really good quality for the price point. They instantly elevate all our windows and look beautiful when the sun hits them.”

Deb, @_debmartin:

“I have so many favourite things I adore about our Tuiss window coverings, but the standout is definitely the huge range. The range of possibilities are huge, you can accommodate any vision & any room. There are so many options, roman’s, rollers, sheer curtains, sunblock… the beautiful textures and finishes from velvets to linens, the colours are amazing. The scope of print options and fabrics will work with any space from a cosy bedroom at home to a stylish office in the city. The range is magnificent.”
